My name is Junu Dimdung. With my humble roots as a poor illiterate farm girl from a remote village in Nepal, I have worked hard to become a global citizen. I am a proud graduate of Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School (SMD) for Himalayan children in Kathmandu, and in 2017, I was fortunate to be selected for a full scholarship to finish grades 11 & 12 at Shawnigan Lake Boarding School in British Columbia, Canada. With my persistent hard work, dedication to academics, community involvement and leadership, I am receiving a full-tuition scholarship to attend Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario (pre-med program) as of September 2019; however, I still need funds for room and board. 

 

At SMD I learned what the Buddha taught, "Help if you can help."  It is my dream to become a doctor and return to Nepal to help my own people. But to make it through my four years at Trent University, I need help. For my first year (thanks to a generous gift from the Shawnigan Board of Governors) I only need $8,000 ($6000 USD). For each of the following years, I'll need $15,500 ($11,600 USD). I will apply for as many scholarships and all the financial aid that I qualify for, and I plan to work part-time throughout my years at Trent to offset costs.

I am reaching out to my community of friends and supporters to help me achieve my goal of attending Trent Unviersity so that I can complete a Bachelor of Science degree.
